Activists Protest Over Lombardo’s Lack of Action Amid Statewide Cyberattack

NEVADA - Governor Joe Lombardo attended a Henderson Chamber of Commerce fundraiser last night. In response, community members participated in a protest to highlight Lombardo’s inaction regarding the recent and ongoing cyberattack, which has resulted in state offices and critical services being offline for several days. Lombardo has made appearances at fundraisers and events with donors in recent days, going so far as to miss a press conference to provide vital information to Nevadans. On Thursday, after public pressure, Lombardo held a press conference in Vegas concerning the cyberattack, but used that time to excuse his absence and reflect that he “felt comfortable being absent in yesterday’s press conference.” 

Manuel Santamaria, Campaigns Director of Battle Born Progress, issued the following statement: 

“Tonight’s action demonstrates the remarkable power of Nevadans to stand up to leaders who seek our approval in election cycles only to ghost us during their time in office. Governor Lombardo has been too busy fundraising in recent days to address the public amid an ongoing statewide cyberattack. His inaction speaks volumes as Nevadans face the closure of DMV offices, a move to paper applications for SNAP, TANIF, and Medicaid, and very little information on when this cyberattack will be over or what personal data was compromised. When he does show up, he excuses his behavior and says he is comfortable with his inaction. Leaders show up, but sadly, with Lombardo at the helm, Nevadans are left wondering, ‘Where’s No Show Joe?’”
