Following a disturbing video of Senator Padilla being restrained at a press conference held by Noem, Senator Cortez Masto calls for Secretary Noem’s Resignation
NEVADA—Today, a shocking video was released showing Senator Alex Padilla being restrained and forcibly removed from a press conference held by Secretary Noem in Los Angeles. Following the video's release, Senator Cortez Masto publicly called for Secretary Noem's resignation.
Shelbie Swartz, Executive Director of Battle Born Progress, issued the following statement:
“We commend Senator Cortez Masto for calling on Secretary Kristi Noem to resign following the appalling incident in which Senator Alex Padilla was restrained and forcibly removed from a press conference Noem held in Los Angeles. This deeply troubling event marks yet another escalation in a pattern of manufactured crises that continue to endanger real people. The forcible removal of a sitting U.S. Senator from a public event in his city and state is not only unprecedented — it is unacceptable. It violates democratic norms, erodes public trust, and signals an alarming drift toward authoritarianism. It also lays bare the reality that different rules seem to apply depending on who you are in this country. We must not allow this to stand, and Noem should resign immediately.”
